Ron Perry was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He started playing tennis at the age of 9 and went on to play at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. He started his coaching career with The Reebok® Youth Tennis Academy as a part time job at the age of 24. As a D.C. firefighter, Ron reached the rank of Lieutenant, while also playing local tournaments and teaching tennis. In 1996, he relocated to Florida with his 12 year old daughter whom he coached and trained since she was 4 years old. She went on to play on the WTA Tour for 11 years, reaching a high of #40 in the world and the top 100 in doubles. Ron managed and coached her until she retired in 2010. His tennis career includes a State Championship, Father and Daughter National Championship, receiving a gold ball from the USTA and a ranking of #2 and winning several tournaments in Florida and reaching the Round of 16 in the National Men's Championship.
While coaching and training several college players, Ron also coached his son, who at the age of 16 was ranked in the top 20 in the Florida Men's Open. He managed and directed his own tennis club in Vero Beach, Florida and was Director/Head Professional of several other country clubs — serving on the Indian River Tennis Foundation. Tennis has been Ron's passion for the last 34 years and it shows in his natural ability to teach many skill levels and ages.
